Mr. Chuck Brooker has been a music teacher in the Brevard Public Schools since 1998 and the Director of Bands at Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School since July of 2004. Mr. Brooker is a National Board Certified Teacher in Music Education. Ensembles under his direction have performed on National television, toured Florida and performed for dignitaries in Washington, D.C. .
Mr. Brooker has acted as a leader for the advancement of music programs within Brevard County, the State of Florida and the United States. Programs under his direction have been selected by the Grammy Foundation in California as a Grammy Signature School with Gold Status. Furthermore, the music program was rated by the Grammy’s as being in the top ten of all school music programs in the Nation. His program was the only one in the entire State of Florida to be selected for this award.
Prior to teaching in Brevard County, Mr. Brooker performed as trombonist with the Palm Beach Opera Orchestra in Palm Beach, Florida. Prior to that he performed with the Command Band of the Air Force Reserve, an active duty Air Force band unit. He distinguished himself by outstanding achievement during a performance in Moscow Russia, on May 2, 1992. This performance constituted the first time in history an American military unit marched through Red Square by the walls of the Kremlin.
Mr. Brooker has also performed as a professional trombonist at Walt Disney World, holding positions with numerous ensembles at MGM Studios, EPCOT Center and the Magic Kingdom. He began his experience with Disney through his appointment to a position with Walt Disney World’s 1989 All American College Orchestra.
Mr. Brooker has performed through out the Southeastern United States, performing with many ensembles, including the Bolshoi Ballet Festival Orchestra, Harid Conservatory Philharmonia and the Strauss Symphony of America, as well as with many world-renowned artists such as Placido Domingo, Marilyn Horne, Roberta Peters, Rosemary Clooney, Bill Conti, Maureen McGovern and Toni Tennille just to name a few.
